  1. It keeps pulling me back...(think Al Pacino in Godfather III). I bought this for $200 at Guitar Center in '06. It was pretty beat up, gave it a good cleaning and was set to be a backup. It has since become my main axe. The frets, neck (which I sanded to give a satin-y feel), electronics all still work. Put some Sperzel locking tuners on it and it's a player - lots of dings and dents to give it a real "relicked" look. It's a keeper - can't say much about other MIK guitar from this era. Very few minor complaints - the weight, hard to see the fret dots, wish the middle position was HH instead of SS but hey - it has never failed me on a gig - and that's what counts. 4.5/5.
  2. I found a Washburn X5MCK at a local music store (Springfield in West Chester PA); have been on a short scale guitar kick for awhile - shoulder's getting gimpy - chose comfort over specs and bought this guy. 4/5 - good beginner guitar - managed to shim the neck and get a gotoh TOM on the bridge cause I hate the typical strat bridge saddles. Everything else is just what I wanted - p/u selector, one piece neck, rosewood f/b, humbuckers, short scale, 3/4 size body - comfy. Good for modding - can always add some pickups and locking tuners - dead quiet even w dist. - frets are coming along well with some consistent play. Kind of a rarity - only made in '08 and '09 i believe. Good deal for $150 - not pro level but fun and gig-worthy.
