  1. ... practice, practice, practice. There are no shortcuts.
  2. Nice playing, wagdog! That's a sweet sounding 74.
  3. This won't help relieve your G.A.S. pains - it'll probably fan the flames... Here's a photo of my real mid-70's Strat (natural awamp ash / maple neck) with a 70's-vibe partscaster I completed last weekend. I love my swampash Strat, but I've been getting more and more nervous about gigging with it and having it damaged or stolen, so that's why I built the partscaster... I'll gig with the partscaster and leave Blondie at home.
  4. Yeah, I'm currently dealing with CD Baby now sucking horribly. It's SO much different now, unbelievable. Before = simple, fast, great service. Now = NO service, not simple, not fast. Had helpful support for an issue, then my support person dropped off the face of the earth apparently. Still waiting for help. My CD SHOULD be released soon, if CD Baby gets it's {censored} together. They had no problem taking my money however, that they've got down. I'm in a similar situation... they took my money, did a REALLY half-assed job getting the CD online (they put up the physical CD for sale on their sight, but only sent it to ONE download service, of which I'd never heard of). Now the download service disappeared and I've written them countless times about and received no response. Then to top it off, they're doing digital downloads of some of my CDs that I don't want them to do digital downloads of, and wrote them about that too, and received no response. It doesn't bode well for them, or for us...
  5. Sure wish Derek (or at least the system he created for the old CDBABY) was back. Even the new CDBABY logo looks cheezy... like something you'd see on a disposable diaper package.
  6. CDBABY was THE premier independant music distributor up until they were bought out by Discmakers. As a long time CDBABY artist, they were excellent to work with... fast and straight-forward accounting, fast status reports, fast customer service, excellent communication, and rarely if ever a customer complaint. Now, "the new CDBABY" owned and operated by Discmakers, is a total nightmare. The accounting system is so complex and user unfriendly that it's a joke. Their customer service is non-existant. Requests for support go unanswered. Am I alone, or are there more fed up CDBABY artists and customers out there? What a MESS! :poke:
  7. If you're looking at low cost condensers, I'd suggest looking at two others... The Studio Projects B1, and the Audio Technica AT-2020. They both go for around $100, and are usable on many things, including acoustic and electric guitar, vocals, drums and other sources. The Studio Projects B1 is a true large diaphragm condenser (one inch diaphragm), where the AT-2020 is a medium diaphragm condenser (about 5/8" dia. diaphragm). The B1 will give you better bottom end, if that's a consideration. They're both fairly smooth sounding given their low cost, and don't have the harsh top end of some mics you're looking at. FWIW.
  8. As I wrote in the other thread (or maybe it was this thread, but my comment was deleted), it's a scam - don't waste your time or money. The only somewhat legit service I know of that helps hook up artist/writers with people looking for original music and asks the artist for money (as a "membership" fee) is TAXI. If the people that contacted you have a link that doesn't work, that should be your first clue.

  10. If you've got phantom voltage available, I'd check out a Studio Projects B1 large diaphragm condenser at around $100. It's amazingly clean, and very un-hyped. Great mic for the $$. And yes, I own two of them myself. http://www.humbuckermusic.com/stprb1miwish.html

  13. Hi Phil, So what's the difference between this forum and the Recording forum?
  14. Like I wrote before - check with ASCAP, or BMI, or any other publishing-oriented organization, or, check with your local attorney that specializes in music law... a "P" with a circle around it stands for "published". You'll see it often on the back of CDs, books, and many other copyrighted and pulished things, as in : © (p) 2004 Columbian Records - a division of Snort Corp. Or, if you're still confused about copyright and publishing laws and symbols in Australia, check with : http://www.apra.com.au
  15. I can't speak for other countries, but in the U.S. of A., a circled C is the symbol for "copyright"; the circled P is the symbol for "published". Still unsure? Join ASCAP as a composer/publisher and learn more.
