  1. Well the most obvious have been named here's the less ... Spencer Davis Group Soft Machine The Zombies The Doors ( Though a Farfisa or Vox Continental most of the time ) Small Faces CAN Crazy World of Arthur Brown Manfred Mann Sly & the Family Stone Graham Central Station Isley Brothers Traffic The Animals The Nice
  2. I must agree with a tube amp ... I found out very recently chatting to one of my fave guitarists as a teen ( Yeah I was lucky enough to chat gear and recording techniques! ) that his killer guitar sound on a particular album was thanks to a Fender Champ! Get a nice little valve amp and mic it up ... experiment with mic placement, record, check the sound - rinse and repeat!
  3. Originally posted by guitarcapo I had a Deacon for a month. Didn't like the thin tone... and the bridge was too hard to modify to improve it. Thin is the last word I would use to describe the tones of the Deacon or Breadwinner ... the neck is fat, warm and smooth like a jazz hollow and the neck is sharper for sure ... I usually use the blend in the middle position for all my rhythmn work. Sounds to me like somebody may have screwed with the internal trim pots for the PU's ... without the original manual most people have no idea that each pickup has it's own internal trim pot for adjusting the volume ... so you can adjust the output vol of the PU's as it has an FET preamp. You sold a gem! p.s - ask anyone at the forum who has heard my MP3's if my tone sounds thin.
  4. The one on the left is the Deacon which is the deluxe Breadwinner ... it has a bound neck and better hardware and electronics. I play the white Breadwinner though as my regular guitar though and keep the Deacon in the studio.
  5. Originally posted by soulpatch I've got one too. Black. Great neck. Stevie Fastest necks of any guitars I've ever played ...
  6. Originally posted by soulpatch Ovation Breadwinner? With the shark fin? Yeah I've got a Deacon as well, had them for nearly 20 years now and they're my main axes.
