  1. Truss = Pro. That said, yes, serious pain in the ass potential. If you can get away with a vertically-oriented banner -- maybe one on each side of the drummer -- one of those retractable professional banner holders where the banner rolls up into the stand would be sweet as hell.
  2. Huh. I thought I'd posted in this thread earlier. I'm 29 and I'm typically the drummer for the projects I'm involved with. I built up this system over the last three years using cover band gig money. Basically took out a loan and put gig money towards payments. It was paid off within three months. Playing crappy music pays off. Mains: 2 - Meyer UPA-1C cabinets, flown 2 - Meyer USW-1 subwoofers Monitors: Galaxy Audio AnySpot AS-1000 wireless stereo in-ears Ultimate Ears Triple.Fi 10 triple-driver earbuds Rack: A&H MixWiz3 tc electronic compressor (vocals) dbx 266 compressor (vocals) Meyer M1A processor (tops) Meyer B2 processor (subs) Crown XTi-1000 poweramp (tops) Crown XTi-2000 poweramp (subs) We don't use any EQ on our system because, quite frankly, we've never needed more than what's provided on the channel strips. The Meyers sound great without any harshness, and the processors do whatever voodoo magic they do. Our bassist owns two small no-name wedges, which our guitarists prefer to use, and another XTi-2000. He also provides the light rig, which consists of about 40' of Global mini-truss, three 420B fixtures from www.entsyscorp.com, eight Colorsplash Jrs, two Global crank stands, two On-Stage light stands, and a couple halogens for effect. One day I'm gonna get a decent picture of the full system before a show.
  3. Since I'm sure it's the same, my Vibe gets about 30-34mpg depending on how I drive it. It's an automatic, 4 cylinder. I won't say it has a ton of power, but I don't have a problem passing people on the highway or anything. One of the big selling points for me was the features it had at its price. It's got a 115V outlet up front, two cigarette lighters (one hidden for cellphone chargers/etc), a radio with RDS capability, and a metric {censored} ton of room. You can get it with an LCD screen and nav system, too, if you've got more money than I do. The passenger seat folds down flat so you can slide a 6x10 or 8x10 all the way in, too! (8x10 makes it difficult to shift though.) Be aware that 2005 models are quite different from the 2003-2004 models. They got rid of most of the "bonus" stuff -- the roof rails, the second 12v outlet, and made the front end butt ugly in my opinion. In return, it's a little cheaper, and you can get a molded subwoofer for the back. I'm at 73,000 miles on my 2003 and I've had zero problems that have required repairs done to it. Changed the tires, regular oil changes, and it's not let me down yet.
  4. The Mazdas are {censored}ing gorgeous. If you don't like the look of the Toyota, look at the Pontiac Vibe -- same car, built by Toyota, but different body style.
