To the OP: does it sound "good" in your room ? Does it sound good in your room, with the drums and bass playing thru the monitors? If it doesn't- (like most the other posters have said) - look at the source. If it does sound good in the room, look 1st at recording techniques; 2nd at the signal chain (mic preamps, AD/DA converters).
