I've tried about 70% of the amp modelling technology. None were as good as the lowest end tube amp. Whether your plugging in direct or micing the speaker, that's what you're recording. I was recording this guy's Behringer amp via SM57. I thought at one point that my preamp was clipping thinking God I messed up his guitar tone. It turned out that he had turned some setting on his amp which was supposed to create some a 'tube' sound. That's bad.
