Great minds think alike. Have my Whirlwind up front and have been searching for something a little crazier to run post-OD. No idea what to go for though, and there are other things that are higher priority than a second phase.

Always wanted to run 2 phases, pre and post distortion. I just tend to like both. Like everyone else said, try it yourself and do what sounds good to you.
