  1. I don't think there's any way to do it. The cloudiness is usually under the finish caused by dampnes that has seeped through from the inside. I had a guitar with this same cloudiness on the back. I might also mention that this guitar had been stored in a lower level closet for about 10 years untouched. May have drawn dampness from being in there for so long locked up in a tight case. I tried just about every commercial product on the market to no avail. I eventually sold that guitar, but it wasn't due to the cloudiness. Fortunately, it was only a "$200 guitar", so not a big deal. It was just time for it to go.
  2. I came to the conclusion that Yamaha's "target" customers are people looking for an acoustic guitar in the $700 or less category. And, in that price range I think Yamaha guitars are damned hard to beat for playability, sound, build quality and just general consistency of product. You may be right if talking about guitars in the $1500 range, but most Yamaha buyers aren't buying guitars in that price range. About 3

  4. I don't know a thing about brass saddles other than the fact that I don't think I'd want one. I'm kinda partial to bone, tusq or even just plain old plastic. And, yes, a compensated saddle helps with intonation. That's what they're made for.
  5. Yeah....it's startin' to wear on me too.
  6. I too have a Yamaha FG-335 from the late 70's. Also, does anyone know what the "MN" stamp on the right side of label stands for? I've searched on-line for photos of these FG-335 labels and of the few I could find that area of the label was just a blank line. Any ideas? I'm only guessing. MN = Mahogany, Natural finish? Like I said......just guessing.
  7. Thanks for the replies, guys. I'd just never heard of the Eterna model guitars before and thought perhaps it was one of the rare ones. Looks like it's waaaaaaaaaaaay over priced.
  8. Are these any good? Found this one locally on CL. When I checked Ebay, I saw one and the logo on the headstock says "Eterna by Yamaha". To me, that's kinda like saying "Maestro by Gibson", or "Sigma by Martin". I'm trying to find out anything I can about these. Seller says it's "solid"....that could mean anything....enlighten me. What's it worth? http://columbus.craigslist.org/msg/2289804841.html
  9. Having owned a real H-bird myself, I agree. But I played a Songwriter recently and I was not impressed, especially for the price they wanted. Epi anything makes me cringe actually .Bob +1....I've always wanted to own a REAL Gibson Hummingbird, but I just can't bring myself to spend the kind of money they go for. I can think of quite a few other guitars for less money that I'd much rather have. And, the only Epiphone I ever played that I thought was worth the money was a $99 DR-100 at Sam Ash one Saturday afternoon a couple of years ago. I keep hearing stories about how great the Masterbilt line is.....but I haven't found one yet that I'd pony up the money for. My Yamaha FG730S sounds better than any Masterbilt I've played.....and it cost less, too!
  10. A friend of mine has an old Dixon "cherry burst" Hummingbird that he's had for years. I'm pretty sure it's all laminated, but it sounds pretty decent to me. He's 78 and one of his boys got it for him years ago as a birthday present. It looks like it went through the war in a couple of places, but it's still hangin' in there.
  11. Only thing is if Willie Nelson got a new Martin it just wouldnt look nice with him playing a new guitar as he's his own man with that old guitar with the rather big hole in it scrathes and all Yep, that old beat up guitar is as much a part of his show as he himself is. No way could he come on stage with a shiny new guitar. It just wouldn't be the same. If a man buys a good guitar to begin with, and treats it with utmost care, it'll last a lifetime. Or, he can buy a good guitar to begin with, beat the hell out of it for 40 years, and still make it work!
  12. Willie's guitar DOES look like it could use a little of that Martin guitar polish. I think most of those "scratches" would buff out.
  13. Doubt he'll ever sell it...and after his passing, it'll very likely end up in the Country Music Hall Of Fame or some such similar place of worship. As would only be right. ^This. And, I'd also say it's worth more than I'd ever pay for it and a LOT more than I'd let it go for if I actually owned it. It really needs to be on display at the CM Hall of Fame, so everyone can see it. Or, what's left of it when Willie is done with it. The way he's going, it could implode and turn to dust before Willie leaves this old world!
  14. All I got was a kaleidescope when I clicked on your attachment. I found this, but I doubt it helps much. It's a semi-acoustic model. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.vintaxe.com/forum_pics/1969navarra.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.vintaxe.com/boards/viewtopic.php%3Fp%3D5334%26sid%3Dad51693494f0ff6a5140ccb08e99912e&usg=__V1SDO_cVglTYVb0GTgHQkitgpnc=&h=800&w=600&sz=127&hl=en&start=2&zoom=1&tbnid=ECI4m5OfN-yNyM:&tbnh=143&tbnw=107&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dnavarra%2Bguitar%26hl%3Den%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1
