I'm a John fanboy, I have one of his signature strats, great sounding guitar. I never really understood the hate, but the music world as of recently as transformed into a world where if it's not your cup of tea, it should be nobodies cup of tea. That being said, he did an interview with Rolling Stone a week or so back, pretty much just saying "I was an asshole and and people hate me, but I've changed". Not to hop on the man's dick but I have respect for him. He hasn't necessarily been through hell and back but the past 3 years have definitely kicked his ass.

That was one of the worst things I've ever heard. BTW EVH was a period musician. His period is over. By 15 years. Or More. What current guitar players who are STILL writing good songs were markedly influenced by him? Zero. EVH style rock is dead. JH is my fave but his influence is waning too. Rock in general is dead. The Black Keys are already what six albums in? And they're the NEW thing. 80's rock is beyond dead. It doesn't even have the skills to caricature itself anymore. Buh-bye. SB This

Eh, Eddie never did much for me. i've tried to get into him (unlike Slash, who I've always hated), and it just didn't sink it. he is without a doubt a great guitarist, but not in my top 10
