  1. I don't think the arena players are really pumping that much sound through their stacks - they would be killing people down in the front rows. The "wall of sound" is mostly a bunch of fake cabs for show. Most of the volume comes from the PA. So when you think about it, what's the point of an amp that is loud enough to melt the shell off a nuclear reactor? Can't really use it?
  2. Oh {censored} yeah, that was pretty much my reaction when I saw the original pics from the NAMM show last year. I just HAD to have it. This one was special-ordered through a buddy of mine who is a retailer and is probably one of the very first ones delivered. And for the record... it's bloody awesome to play too.
  3. 2009 Ibanez RG3550MZ in roadster orange metallic
  4. None of the classic series Rainsongs have truss rods, but their other model lines do have truss rods. Carbon fiber is pretty much bullet proof if it is laid up properly. From what I have seen of them you could hold up a building with a Rainsong neck so the lack of a truss rod would not really bother me much. They do seem to be utterly indifferent to weather, temperature, humidty.... Street prices for most new Rainsong models (e.g. WS1000) are typically a bit lower than a new HD-28, but not by a lot. There are exceptions too, their concert and hybrid models are pretty stoutly priced. But if you're looking for the Martin D-28 sound you may not like the Rainsong sound and vice versa. They have very different tonal characteristics. The Rainsongs tend to feel and play more like electric guitars. Personally, I like them both, but I own a Martin and not a Rainsong.
  5. Personally, I really like schecter's That one is a beauty Damn right!
  6. Got all three. They're all great to play but the strat is the most comfy.
  7. Well one thing is for sure, there is no such thing as "the best" because there's no objective measure of "best". The one that is the best is the one that feels best to you. Go play a pile of them and one will grab you. I promise. Even better, at that price range you have a whole world of really nice options - especially if you're buying 2nd hand. I'm a Martin bigot myself, but I also love Taylors and Larivees and Collings and Guilds and... oh well you get the idea. Have fun!
