  1. I guess there is really no way to explain exactly what I mean by "perfect" but I just listened to some of Dredg's last album "Catch Without Arms" and I really hated the production. It sounds as though the engineer only focused on eliminating noise and making everything sound crisp and clear. It's ridiculous, IMO. It just sounds so unnatural. The way the vocals stand out in the mix sounds so "pop" I don't feel that the production on the album reflects the band's art or identity. I don't even listen to Dredg much lately, but I stumbled accros the album on iTunes and it bothered me how much I disliked the drum sound, the lack of reverb, and the super clear up front vocals. Maybe that is the sound they were going for, but all I heard was the producer fearing anything sounding "washed out" or "mashed together" That was a big part of what I enjoyed on their last album "El Cielo" Then again, I am a big shoegaze fan I guess that makes a difference. Please share some of your dislikes on production.
  2. Have any of you heard the actual CD album "Hopes and Fears" by keane?? The sound quality is great to me, but why is the album so damn LOUD?!?!?! Good gosh!!
  3. We should give some examples of how NOT to sound - Not of our own work, but maybe from recordings done for popular artists, from songs we may have all heard. Give some examples for us recording newbies
