Still not bad mics, however, and everything has a potential use. I have a pair of MK219s that sound terrible, but every once in a while, I find a use for them. Have you used a 319 Weathered? I'm curious to hear (or talk to someone who has heard) the difference between the poor performance of the square housing on the 219 versus the round housing on the 319. I've found it to be pretty neutral and is a good 'all around' condenser; then again I don't have a lot to work with. I was just wondering if the housing was all that was wrong with MK219.

  4. Sheez...I don't think you can do better for $69. I've used them as overheads, cymbal mics, acoustic guitar and they've sounded good. That said...I have the russian mics. I think (?) what might be at GC now is chinese models, I'm not sure. I know plently of others here know though. I don't think theres any reason for alarm, but I'd like to hear what people say about the differences. I don't really keep track since I already got em.

  6. Hmm, not the albums I've been listening to. I don't listen to any 'SCREAM INTO THE MIC AS LOUD AS YOU CAN' metal though.

I'm a Metallica fan mind you, but I think I've heard a raw mix that sounds better than that. Yeah, that was pretty God-awful. But it was that way on purpose...which makes it worse. I think Black Label Society's 'Stronger than Death' is a pretty terrible mix. I believe the engineer on that album does some writing in the "Mixing Engineers handbook" as well...which is quite frightening, haha. Everything's just kinda thrown together, and doesnt fit well. As for St. Anger...do what I did; rip the audio from the DVD. I don't listen to it often..but when I do...its definitely better than the CD.
