I had a kyokushin karate teacher who did that, but with an even thicker rock. It's just beyond awesomeness. As for fingertips, the long hard way seems the only foolproof one. Don't try jamming them into a lawnmower, it doesn't help (I only did it by accident and it was my right hand anyway and since I mostly use picks, it's not a hinderance these days).

I saw a YT clip posted here a while back of this guy sitting down it what looked like a testing booth at NAMM or something, trying out a guitar in front of a cam, and playing real delicate but techical and musical stuff... I think it was Mayer. Anyone remembers this clip? I'd love to see it again.

In rhythm guitar its a major factor, and in lead work as well. Good melodies aren't good unless they have timing - which is based on rhythm. Whatever instrument you play, rhythm is a major part of what you do, but even more so with guitar since it's, at least in some genres, part of the rhythm section.

i get whitesnake confuse with kix, warrent, cinderella, poison, stryper, and winger. grunge was the cure for that long haired frat rock. Just as punk rock was the cure for some of the glam stuff in the 70's... on both occasions it was a welcome change, but that doesn't mean everything from the previous era sucked. And, the best of the grunge lot, IMO, was the bands that stood close to metal (Alice In Chains and Soundgarden). To be honest, I don't really see why grunge was compared to punk rock - that is, historic paralels are obvious but the music of Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots doesn't really have much to do with punk rock... more like metal with some alternative rock and depressive lyrics.

no I did read your question, there are no deep gouges or anything on this guitar, just some odor that will go away, that is no reason to throw away a case, we have stuff blessed all the time and I know for a fact it does go away.. as far as the wife I brought her up because of our situation, not to be ridiculed and poked fun at.. Large I feel for you and your family, but at least you are able to work, I can't anymore.. whoever said that retirement was enjoyable I'd like to hit them in the mouth.. your house becomes a prison.. Listen, honestly, it sounds like you're having a hell of a time over there and I'm sorry about that. But if I were you, I'd fix this mess. I wouldn't care about getting away cheap, I'm talking about making sure the one you made the transaction with is fully satisfied. Everyone on the forum sees you as a pest these days and that can't feel good. Make sure that at least one transaction ends up fine, so that, the next time someone brings this up, you or someone else can respond "we've dealt with that and the guy was satisfied at the end". Not to mention it will help you sleep at night.
