  1. Learned on an old carved top, "f" hole accoustic (brand unknown). Then had a cheapo "Diamond" brand (Japanese) strat. copy. When I started gigging at about 15 it was with a Harmony H73, Roy Smeck signature model (see my avatar) that I still have (over fourty years old now).
  2. Sex offenders registries are also fairly problematic in terms of legality. How SCOTUS could determine that it wasn't continued punishment after time served confuses not only me, but my friends in the legal field (the answer, actually, is that Scalia is a mental case). . I have to put my $ .02 in on this line. I don't get why you and your "friends in the legal field" would have such a hard time understanding that registering as a sex offender is PART of the punishment . Time served AND you have to register as a sex offender. What is there to get?
  3. Is this the same band leader who said he wasn't pleased with your tone? If I were you, I'd tell this guy to jump up my ass sideways... Same guy. I'm just getting my ducks in a row before I talk to him again. He's ok, really, just has some of the same prejudices regarding amps, g....tars and stuff that a lot of others have.
  4. I don't know, but you have some excellent taste in amps! Thanks. My parents bought me a Sunn Solarus back in about 1968 or 69. (Amp and 2 X 12 cab new for about $750 if I remember right) I still have it. It needs some speaker repair or replacement, but is otherwise in pretty great condition. I later (about 1975) bought myself a Sunn Concert Bass Amp with a Cab (I think it was 1 X 15, but might have been 2 X 15 I don't really remember). In bleak and dire economic times I had to sell that off. So recently when I decided to start playing bass again and looking for a band for the first time in about twenty years, I replaced the Concert Bass Amp that I had always regretted selling. Then just days afterward the 2000S showed up on E-Bay so I bought that too! I have recently added a 2 X 15 Sunn Cab (200S I think) that I'm still waiting to arrive. I love Sunn and the Sunn sound. Can't be beat, can't be duplicated.
  5. So come on you guys, help me out here. I know that some of you know everything there is to know about who played what bass thru what amp for which song. ( I mean that. I'm not being smart or sarcastic when I say that. I know there are some real scholars of bass lore and history that use this site).
  6. My band leader says that "you can't get a good rock and roll sound from a short scale bass which is probably why nobody uses them". So I guess he discounts: Paul McCartney - Beatles Jack Casady - Jefferson Airplane Allen Woody - Allman Bros. Jack Bruce - Cream Bill Wyman - Rolling Stones Who else? Name the bassist, band, album that were played on short scale basses. Help me set this guy straight.
