  1. I have a 2012 J45 that just kicks ass so don't let the nay sayers and internet rumor mill convince you that Gibson isn't making a good product these days and like I said before you'll have better luck going to a well stocked 5 star dealer to audition good assortment of Gibsons. I'd do the same thing if I was buying a Martin or whatever.
  2. I would recommend shopping at the 5 star dealers, because I've never been impressed with many Gibson acoustic at GC and the likes . I bought my J45 at a 5 star dealer and it was love at first strum and a Gibson wasn't even on my radar.
  3. That sounds really good -- the only thing that rubs me the wrong way is the acoustic guitar. I just don't think it fits in its current position in the stereo spread... I think I would like it better panned to the right side (which sounds pretty empty during the verses) or else doubled or something. I'm hearing a lot on the left side during the verse and I think it's that acoustic guitar is overwhelming over there Or maybe hit it with more reverb so it fades more into the background. it just jumps out too much (for my taste) Funny you mention that. I've been wrestling with the acoustic back and forth and I know what you mean about it sticking out too much on the verses. I'll check that out...Thanks
  4. Hey guys Here's a song I'm finishing up. I'm taking a break from it over the weekend and am putting it to rest Monday. http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/1768534
  5. Ditch amp modelling and built in effects and just get a simple, no-nonsense tube amp. In other words, spend the money where it'll actually affect the sound quality, not where it's going towards more 'stuff'. The Epiphone Valve Junior is a great little value and can be modded later on to compete with more high end stuff. There are a few others in that price range as well that are worth a look. It'll sound great right away if you get the head version and find a used cab with a Celestion Greenback or Vintage 30 (speakers have the biggest effect on tone if you ask me). And with a V30, you may be surprised at how loud it gets! Remember, versatility comes from your playing style, not from the amount of knobs on the amp. Some stomp-boxes can help (an overdrive pedal and a volume pedal (get an optical one!) are very nice to have) but ultimately if you want to sound a certain way, you need to play a certain way. Focus on that and just get an amp that sounds good. Totally agreed. Get yourself a decent all tube amp and buy used if you have to.
  6. Polished Turd. No, really. I mean it. LMAO
