If I were to do it again, I might use CA glue and an accelerator just because it gives you a bit more control. CA glue dries slow until you spray on the accelerator, then it hardens fast.
  2. I'm shocked that the same people who are closed minded about guitar designs are also closed minded about a movie they've never seen. [/sarcasm] [video=youtube;vYEXzx-TINc]
  3. Well, Dave, the OP was too short of a review. But, I'm glad to read some positive feedback regarding this movie. Since, I don't know what to expect, I'll keep an open mind until I do see it.
  4. Just saw Rock of Ages. WOW. Why? Were you drunk? Did you lose a bet? Was it refer madness? Do you have masochistic tendencies? Explain your lapse of judgement.
  5. HC needs an enema. JJ might be just the right high colonic for the job. Anyway, it's about time for the inmates to get a shot at taking over the asylum. Let the cleansing begin!
  6. Before you know it, there will be holograms with artificial intelligence. Not long after, they'll demand a vote. And, once we reach the singularity, there'll be forums full of holograms debating the finer points of everything. How can I be sure y'all aren't holograms?
  7. There is no way hand manufacturing is going to meet the quality & consistency of well engineered & computer controlled, CNC & threading machines. Your going to start seeing pickups of very high quality mass produced & affordable product all over the place soon. Of course there will be some that still swear by the work of the Jedi but it will be a dying religion in the near future. CNC machines are just tools used in the process of building a guitar. It is often described as if it's a magic guitar making device. But, CNC made guitars are not automatically better or worse. Some of them end up as fantastic guitars, some average, and some turds. The difference often comes at the end of the process when the guitars are finished by hand. Many great budget and boutique guitars are made without the use of CNC. Rondo Music guitars come out of Korea made with old fashioned tools and methods. Some of them end up as pretty great players according to folks around this forum. By the way, hand wound pickups are not completely wound by hand. They are wound on some type of machine. But, an uneven and imperfect wind, tends to result in more complex tone. This is where your CNC theory on computer perfection in creating a better sounding pickup fails.
  8. Gospel? No. Common sense? Yes! Paying that much for a guitar borders on commercial hysteria and mental illness. And your right there are a lot of people who feel different. But that does not make me wrong & them right. You think your ideas and values about gear are superior to everyone else. Well, your cap sniffing snobbery is just as ugly and bigoted as any cork sniffing snobbery.
  9. ...jrockbirdge, what kind of music do you play? I have been curious about the BG90s for a while. My first Gibson was with P90s and was a tone beast. Also have you had the chance to compare BG90s with GFS P90s? For the most part, I'm a basic rock and roll player. I typically play somewhere between clean and medium gain. But, that may change if I get a Suhr Riot pedal. I have not compared GFS P90's to BG P90's. But, I have experienced that some of the budget P90's (even Rondo Music) sound pretty decent.
  10. Burton4snow, the BG Pure 90's are fantastic pickups! I my Pure 90's! I think you'll be very pleased with the tone from clean to gain. I have owned a few sets of GFS pups and I think they're an excellent value. They were worth the purchase price, but were not in the same league as Fralin, BG, or TV Jones. I don't know why so many people are calling for internet clips to prove that boutique pups are better than budget pups. If all you plan to do is post compressed MP3 clips on internet forums, GFS are more than adequate. :poke:
  11. Valid. But I go for ringside seats when someone gets into it with either EG or Zemmy. They can handle it, and it's quite entertaining Speaking of fights, who do you think would win in a fight between...say...a Duesenberg and a Gibson?
  12. Soooooooooooo.......how about them Duesenberg guitars? Pretty cool.
