  1. although prop 8 passed- it seems to me that Obama's speech almost single handedly undid all that hateful damage prop 8 is going to cause: "It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America" Yes.......it was disappointing that he had to bring that up in his speech....
  2. peter singer much?? I don't understand what that means sorry.
  3. i don't think she would want her business put out there like this. I'm pretty sure I didn't give enough info to identify her. Or him. Actually....it was a dog, not a person. I didn't have many friends at school. Or still.... I'm so depressed....
  4. The 64 Thousand Dollar Question. As is evident in this very thread, it depends on who you ask. SetAI will tell you it's not until the 3rd trimester. You probably believe it's at conception. Others might have other definitions or criteria. I personally believe that it's up to the parents to decide for themselves. In most circumstances, yes. But nothing is ever black and white. What about massively dibilitating defects? Rape victims? One of my best friends at school was the "result" of a rape. Are you suggesting that she didn't deserve to live? That she should never have been born? She loved life and the world would've been poorer without her.
  5. And there is the crux of it. When is it a "baby"? I had a colleague that genuinely argued that since a kid didn't really have a real personality, or a real sense of "self" until about 1.5 or 2 years old, that abortion should be legal for up to 1 year. For the record, I agree with 96% of all the points CR is making.
  6. All Change is Good Change. And the more Extreme the Change, the Better. What absolute twaddle.
  7. I'll just be happy it's over with. Sick to death of hearing about your election 50 times a day.

I'm not trying to hate on virtuosos and fancy wankers out there. more power to em' for all that hard work they put in. I hope having a signature instrument at guitar center named after them makes em' happy. /jonny No, I'm a keyboard/sax player that used to try his hand at bass. Hey I think anyone reading this thread would be seriously bored by this 2-way conversation, so let's end it here. D
  9. Originally posted by mono boy naturally. it's self-focused playing. it's fun for the individual but won't garner a large audience. Aren't I the audience? I like his playing. D
  10. Originally posted by mono boy I'm all for odd instruments and such but....a real bass does not have 12 strings. nor does it have 5 strings. I think if a bass player wants to be a guitar player and strum chords they should learn how to play a guitar. and if they want to reach 20Hz with a low 'B' they should get a bass synth. [/soapbox] Having 12 strings doesn't necessarily mean you have to play chords as such, as you're actually playing the same note, just octaves apart. But he does actually play a lot of chords ;-) D
  11. Originally posted by mono boy IMO- geddy lee is not a bass player---although he does play a bass. um........huh? I like Doug Pinnick from King's X. I had a 12 string for a while - it was a huge sound but quite hard to play. Damian
