  1. Rode makes some mics with good value. Their NT1A is at the top of your price range, and should be a good, versatile, large diaphragm condenser mic. I'm assuming you have a source of phantom power. If not, there are a few mics that run on batteries. We have the Rode NT3, which uses 9V power, but is a bit more than your budget. Happy recording!
