  1. I am going to change them a lot. I plan on making a whole bunch of one humbucker one volume Stratocaster pickguards with less expensive pickups from places like GFS and switching them out periodically. Locking might be the answer.
  2. I want to replace the tuners my Squier Classic Vibe 50s Stratocaster 2014. The split style won’t work for me because I am swapping out the pickguard with other pre made pickguards. So when I loosen the strings they pop out and I usually can’t get them back in and end up having to use another set of strings. So I need the ones with the slot or hole in the tuning peg. Can someone recommend replacement tuners for my Squier Classic Vibe 50s Stratocaster 2014 want to go from the split shaft to slotted (hole in the peg). Direct drop in would be great. Thanks
  3. Who know that typing the word "Duesenburg" in a thread title would be such a hit! Well done sir, well done. This is Amazing, do I get some kind of Award! The whole reason I thought about getting GFS pickups is because some of my expensive equipment stacked right up there with my less expensive stuff. Two cases in point- The Bad Monkey sounded the same to my ears as the TS808 Tubescreamer and the Blackstar HT5 sounded better than the Mesa Express 5:25. Alot of factors could come into play like size of room how loud I play etc. But to my ears it sounded the same or better and in both cases the more expensive ones were more than double the price. So from my experience there was less expensive gear out there that could sound the same or better as its expensive counterpart. Plus those Gold Pearl Dream 180s would have looked tits on my Duesenberg.
  4. Here we go again! Lets see if we can top 200 posts!
  5. IIR the beginning of this thread;) the OP has the Outlaw which has a tolex top, so it's this one, and without doubt a {censored}ing gorgeous piece of Teutonic design n style Oops I should have gone farther down! Thats the one!
  6. OP!! Don't worry. You didn't do anything wrong. These kinds of threads happen all the time hear. Guitarists are a passionate sub culture! I am glad that in between the raindrops, you got some advice that was worth giving a try. Is this the type? 'Cause that's a seriously beautiful guitar!! Its looks just like that but has mock aligator skin tolex on top and headstock. I fell in love with it at the store and played it for a while through a really nice Bogner. My wife and I were getting a divorce and she was buying me out of the house but she came up short. She knew I wanted that guitar so she bought it for me on credit to make up the amount she came up short(obviously it was friendly split). Long story short we never got a divorce, but if that didn't happen believe me I never would have bought a $2,500 guitar. This is purely a hobbie to me. That was like my dream guitar, but when I got it home and it kinda of fell short to my $700 Fender Toronado (of course I had it refretted and put Burstbucker pros in it which bumped it up over $1000) I was a little bummed. I think I didn't play around with it enough. I was always grabbing my Tele or Fender. Then I thought what the hell everybody keeps praising these GFS pickups maybe that will spark my interest in the guitar again, but actually just getting on this forum and having some people telling me I was crazy made me take another look at the Duesenberg. After fiddling with the pickup height and really playing it I am starting to fall in love with it. And that's my story thanks for listening. Also' thanks for giving me the most posts for any thread I ever started.
  7. I recommended the 500k and 022 Orange drops because that's what I used on my semihollow and got great results. Loved using the audio taper too, nice even change along the pot's entire range and huge tone range. I'm having a tech put these in. Since the Duesenberg is a semi hollow and you say you are having good luck with this setup I might look into this. Were do I buy the electronics your talking about above? Sorry I don't know much about the pots and other electronics!
  8. I have always wanted a guitar with p-90s so I think I might put a pair in my Duesenberg. People in the forum have convinced me to go with a little higher quality so I think BG sounds like a good choice. Is the BG P-90 humbucker size about as true to a P-90 sound your gonna get in a Humbucker sized P-90 or should I look at some other options?
  9. Well just to let everyone know that was helping me I just fooled around with the pickups and found a useful tone and I'm actually digging it. Like one of the first replies said it is different from the other guitars but it has its use in my playing spectrum. It's weird sometimes I love my guitars and sometimes I hate them and I am sure alot of factors go into that. Probable most of all how I am playing that day. I try to never jump the gun that is why I come to the forum with questions. My problem is I am a gear whore so I'm always searching for some new way to teak my sound and get excited about buying some new equipment. I guess I will just focus on the Wah I want to get. Its probable going to be 535q unless somebody talk me out that one. I am also looking at the Zak Wylde one its real throaty which I kind of like in a wah. At least from fooling around with my pod wahs.
  10. Valid. But I go for ringside seats when someone gets into it with either EG or Zemmy. They can handle it, and it's quite entertaining Like I said it's hilarious. The only thing that sucks is that I thought I had a whole bunch of replies to my question and half of them where a fight. I'd hate to see you guys in traffic!
  11. Speaking of fights, who do you think would win in a fight between...say...a Duesenberg and a Gibson? Probable depends on the player.
  12. please note the text in bold...clearly off topic and designed to provoke and insult if youre going to start the name calling, you dont get to stand on the "let's stay on topic" soapbox, k? dick It's hilarious how you guys get in these forum fights. When do ever find time to play guitar? I play every chance I get and only go on this forum when I want advice on getting a piece of gear that I think will enhance my playing experience. It's all about the playing! Lets all get back to it and not worry about the bullshit.
  13. Yes. EG Not a gfs fan or you have had good luck with Duesenberg pickups
  14. I can't get these things to sound good especially when playing chords with distortion. It just doesn't sound right, and although I'm not a great player I have two other guitars and the pickups sound great playing the same stuff. Those pickups are Samarian Cobalt Noisless and Burstbucker Pros, so they are not cheap, But you would think a $1,500 guitar would have good pickups. Does anyone else hear what I am hearing from these pickups? Is it crazy to swap them out for GFS Dream 180s? I gotta go cheap I'm poor these days plus the gold pearl will look increbible on the Starplayer outlaw which has mock alligator tolex with aged yellow binding around the whole thing. If anything it will be a real expensive decoration!
