  • Cheap Reed Instrument

I own guitars, bass, painos, harmonicas, recorders but the one type of instrument i have never layed my hands on are brass/reed instruments. Can anyone recomend a really cheap single reed instrument? I have looked into getting a xaphoon pocket sax but i don't think they have enough notes.
     Thanks

    Hey Ben,

There are some great affordable woodwind brands like Allora and Etude. What instrument were you looking to start with? The fingerings for sax/flute/clarinet are very similar and you could transition from one to the other fairly easy.

Check out some of these links:

    Hope this helps!

Clarinet is more difficult as it doesn't work in octaves like sax and flute.

Sax and flute are more like recorder fingering.

You can also get a Yamaha WX5 and use synth sounds - but not all synths will give you good results.
