  • Must've been fun. Great pics. But, something haunting my rafters tells me I'm looking in a morgue. Ratio of old to under 30 talent in attendance there?
    I hope it was X/X+.

There does seem to me a shift of interests with the younger people these days, perhaps the thought of having to work hard and long to be good at something has something to do with it. ?

NAMM is usually has a mix of people. It's not really a kid-friendly environment, but outside of that, most age groups are represented. If it leans towards a slightly older demographic, it's because of who the show is intended to appeal to. It's really not designed as a showcase of products for rock, pop and rap stars to drool over (although it certainly has that appeal), it's a trade show where manufacturers show their latest products (and try to sell them) to music shop owners / dealers / retailers, so a lot of the people there are going to be management from those establishments.

        • Does NAMM happen once a year or twice? I see there's a "winter" and a "summer" NAMM? Also, I called up Guitar Center and they told me they have no clue when they'll get new products that was at NAMM. When does that usually happen? I've been looking for a reverb and delay effect (for EDM related project). I'm sure they're all the same thing from older version/models but if something actually stood out at the NAMM, I'll be looking into it. Does the NAMM website actually have the listing of all new products?
          Win $19,000! Ends May 14th.
Earn $25 when one friend makes a purchase. They'll get $10.

Winter NAMM happens in late January, and is held in Anaheim CA. Summer NAMM is held in late June in Nashville TN. Those are the only two NAMM shows that are held each year.

            There an old joke...

            Q. Do you know what NAMM stands for?

            A. Not Available, Maybe May...

And it's funny because it's not too far off the mark.

The answer to your question is hard to pin down, because each new product announced will have its own roll-out schedule. Some companies may already be shipping some of the new products they announced at NAMM, while others won't be available until March or May... and occasionally (often due to unexpected delays) companies are just getting things shipped that were announced at the previous year's winter NAMM show just before the next year's show is about to start. Once in a while there will even be "vaporware" products that get announced, but for a variety of reasons are cancelled and never get shipped out to stores.

No, they don't list all of the new products announced at NAMM on any single website that I'm aware of. You can get ideas from overviews of the show (like this one), but even that's not all-inclusive. Another thing you can try is doing a search online using the search terms new hardware reverb 2018 NAMM or something similar - that should pull up the sites for companies who had such units at the show.
