  • MMM - My Messe Moments

OK, so I've spent thursday afternoon at the Messe, drove off early in the morning foir what should have been a 3.5hour drive but turned into a 5.5 hour ordeal
but there it was, I just would have to run faster
so of course I realized that (as always) I would not get to see everything or try everything I wanted to try
and as I stood there I also realized
one of the first things I had to do anyways was
    find a toilet

    fully relieved
I went into Hall 4, it's the guitar hall
    and pedals
    and bass guitars
    and amps
    it's the busiest hall
I was only there for 5 minutes and someone tap me on the shoulder
    it was Discofreq
I said to him, well first impression (mind you I was only in there for 5 minutes) is that it is a bit less busy as early Messe
hmmm, still a pretty depressed market and economy in Europe
old timers said it also was like this end 70s, during the oil crisis
and then it picked up again
I hope it will pick up again
but these big ass trade fairs seem to be getting out of fashion
    we'll see

now without further ado, my personal hilites of the show

sorry for the bad pic, I was a bit shaky hearing this little head
designed by italian (they still got it) amp guru Cicognani and now revived by 2 young italian entrepreneurs
            succulent sounding amp this Gurus

                best synth of the show
                now this is hard
Musikmesse 2015 had a lot to offer for synthfolks
I totally forgot to check out the new Elka Synthex reissue
and it was impossible to try em all
but I got a go with the Roland rackmodules and had a blast
Roland really stood out this year at the Messe, lots of new stuff and not all crap

                  Best bargain of the show
                  So I like pedals
                  I'm sorry about that
                  can't help it
                  pedals pedals pedals pedals pedals
                  cheap pedals can be good
but it is not quite often you find one
but I went by the Caline booth and tries out the Snake Bite reverb pedal
it sounded stellar, everything from lush long spacy reverbs to dry room reverb or warm analog spring reverb,or cold digital new wave reverb
amazing, and it's about 50$ street
I already knwe Caline had a couple of great and affordable pedals (the Crazy Cactus comes to mind), but this one really good,
                  sorry, another shaky pic

hmmm, best acoustic, again tough one, let me just say that even though Martin Co. seems to be the biggest Ed Sheeran fan at the moment, and the Ed Sheeran Martin is a little monstrosity but they still make great guitars

                          reliced guitars

still, a couple of nice ones at the show, this TV Jones

                            synths with patch cables
who would have thought these would make a come back

actually, that thing was also the wackiest wildest thing I found at the Messe
it was a synth module that also controlled some solenoids and things and you could hook up virtually everything to that synth and make music with it (he had a cardboard box, glass bottle, tooth brush, acoustic guitar and other things hooked up and it sounded fab
                              TOTALLY RAD
                              made by hipsters btw
                              there is still hope
