I was wondering if anyone does this, or if it is even feasible. I have been looking at 16 channel DVR's that come with 8 cameras. Seems to me that with 8-12 cameras and a DVR you could record a whole show and then edit the video together to make a one man recorded concert video. Maybe even link up a wireless transmitter to link a handheld camera to a channel of the DVR for crowd shots and action shots. Then everything would be time-synced.

Or am I really DRAMATICALLY over simplifying the thought process here?

you mean like security cameras? I would just grab some DVX100(SD)'s or HVX200(HD)'s or get a couple dslr's t21's are only like $700 a piece and take good enough video. Get the Mark II 5D if you're really needing good HD.

It's better to have 1 solid quality cam, than 20 crap ones.

Well, I am not looking at this as the start of a company, I am looking at it as a hobby. I am not looking at doing DVDs, but instead more of a reasonable and cheap youtube video kind of thing. And the websites for the DVR's I looked into had video posted that was of pretty good quality. Not the crap black and white 1 frame per second stuff of 10 years ago.

Ahh I gotcha, It would probably be fine for something like that then. What kind of resolution does it have?

I know technology has advanced a lot, so stuff just gets cooler & cooler I personally get sick of watching the news around here about party stores, gas stations & such getting robbed and they still have b&w 1/2 a megapixel resolution  They can get crystal clear picture nowadays for cheap, I don't get why they don't spend a few dollars so you can easily see the persons face.
