Necrosocial, there WAS such a niche in my big "Do's and don'ts for newbies V3.02" thread...

    Anyway recommended DAWS:
    Tascam 788
    Korg D1200
    Korg D1600
    Akai DPS16
    Yamaha AW16G
    Yamaha AW4416
    Roland VS1824

forget the other VS-stuff and forget the Fostex stuff... They all have some corner's cut.

      For years I used ADAT's! BlackFace, LX's, XT's and MT's.
But I have to give luv to the Alesis HD24! Great purchase with 2 drive bays(you can get 2-40gig drives for less than $150) and so EASSSSY to use it's makes tracking projects a cinch!

What about the Aphex Arual Exciter for that big sound. I did my first project with just the Pro Tools LE, and an Audio Technica AT4033. I mixed through some AKG240 and Alesis Monitor Ones. I want to go to the Sennheiser HD600 headphones, and the Shure KSM44. Whatcha think?

peter and mark and everyone else:

would it be ok if i reposted these gear recs to mojo pie and credit the recording forum at harmony central? of course, there'd be a link back to the forum, mark's site and peter's site.

                Nice thread

For headphones, tracking or monitoring, I still say the Sony MDR 7509 are the best...

I found so many flaws in my previous mixes using those bad boys

How about poweramp? I'm looking for an inexpensive one to power a pair of Yorkville YSM 1.

I'd say two KM184, two U195 and a handful of MD421. That's pretty much what it takes.
