Is there such a thing as aan All-in-one Multi-track Recorder that can be triggered...by MIDI?

I have an MPC that I use for sequencing. I was wondering if there exists a All-in-one Tascam or Yamaha type multi-track recorder thing where it could accept Midi and and have tracks on the recorder triggered by the MPC?

Does this make sense? I know the Tascam 788 has midi in/out but i think that is just to link to other Tascams through MTC.

I really am tired of laptops...

How about syncing the sequencer to the recorder via MTC instead?

      Ohh is that possible?

      I am really clueless..

The only thing I want to do is use the recorder to record longish tracks (over 15 secs or so) that the MPC sampler chokes on, and then have the MPC just tell the Recorder to, like, start the sample.

      That's pretty much it.
