I've emailed Sytek to ask for an eval of their tube pre to no response.

I very highly recommend the A Designs MP-2 mic preamp. www.adesignsaudio.com

I've had the MP-2 for three months. Before that I had an MP-1 for about four months that was a loaner.

Too bad he won't respond, he's linking Mojopie's review on his page first and foremost.

I got to use the MPX4Aii preamp for the first time on Sunday and it's damn nice.

What do you think about it?

Have you DI it using basses and guitars?

Maybe you should call up Mike and guilt him on it so you can review it.

I think it's an incredible mic pre. I think it's also a great bass DI. It leans toward the clean side of things. It's got the best low end of any mic pre I've used. It's big on the low end but still focused.

Here's my review of the one channel version, the MP-1:

By the way, my buddy uses the 737 on everything and just loves it. Everything on board that sucker is top notch according to him. On my voice with a Lawson mic, I did hear a bump in the low mids compared to some other preamps, and I'm certain he had the eq flat or bypassed on the 737.

Wow! One tube channel for $1678.00. Thats placing it in a very strange place in the current market. You can get a lot for that these days.

You can probably get it for a little more than half that price.

The mpx-4 is listed at around that price too, but I scored one for just under 700 bucks.

OK, I've never followed one of those auctions to close so I didn't know his reserve was that low.
