    Firestation, no question.

The 410 offers only 2 simultaneous analog ins (either XLR OR 1/4", not both).

The Firestation offers 8 i/o simultaneously.

For the price, I would (and probably will) go with the Firestation. Its time to replace my Tascam US-122 (which has, surprisingly, been very nice to me and my iBook!)

You should read this before you consider a Firestation...

the kids at guitar center said the 410 over the firestation. they told me that they opened it up and it had only 1 tube for the 2 tube pres...they didn't really like it much.

i won't be recording but 1 track at a time probably...so i don't really need 50 in 50 out or anything either. i think the 410 sounds solid from what people have said.

            it's easier to move too...

thanks for the coments. i really appreciate everyone's input.

I've got the 410 at home, I've been using ot for a few days now.

From what I've read about the Firestation, I wouldn't even consider it. The 410 is a good box, but it's a little fussy about S/PDIF I/O. It will indicate an incorrect sample rate and tell SONAR to sample at 48K when the project is sampling at 44.1K. CRASH. Brings the whole system down, hard reboot.

Still, I'd buy it again over any card at that price point, unless Aardark gets their **************** together and releases a driver that will truly support XP.

I've been using the Firewire 410 for about two months now and I haven't had any issues, though it is somewhat limited with only 2 pres. I couldn't quite justify the jump to a Motu yet though, and these can be chained together if need be.
