Does anyone know if there is a difference between the Black and Silver Sennheiser e609 mics? There is a $180 price difference so there has to be something that is different.

I recently bought a e609 silver for $95 on ebay. I've seen the non-silver version sell for $150 and up. I think the silver sounds fine, I use it to close mic my guitar cab. I've never used the black version, or original version as i've heard it called. I'd be intersted to find out what the difference is as well. Anyone know?

I was told by a Sennheiser rep that the mics are exactly the same, except... they have a new process for machining the body that is much cheaper. I can't gaurantee that there is nothing different, but that's what I was told recently while in a music store with a Senn. rep.

Personally I've haven't heard both of them, but the silver one is supposed to sound more like the orginal 409 - I would have thought that would make it more expensive, not less, but ther you go.
