  • ADAT Lightpipe cable?

Okay, first and foremost tell me what you think of this idea:
I'm going to buy a Digi 002R and I was thinking I would pick up an ST Audio 8-channel mic pre amp thing that also has an ADAT lightpipe output on it (as seen here: http://www.wwbw.com/Item/?itemno=102959). Do you think that would sound like complete ****************? Down the road I would get a nice pre amp such as an Avalon perhaps, but this would just get me started.

Also, what kind of cable do you use to hook up ADAT lightpipe? Is it the same thing as a TOSLINK cable?

They are the standard fiber optic cables defined as "PRO" gear.

    The TOSLINKs are right.

I've got the same plans, but I've been looking at the Presonus DigiMax LT. Costs a bit more though.

Do you think the ST Audio pre amps would sound horrible? I live out in the middle of nowhere, so usually I buy gear by "word of mouth" and places that allow returns.

Well, having never heard the ST, 200 bucks sounds too cheap. I think they are pretty much known for making affordable gear, but I know the Presonus is more of a quality piece. That's just what I've gathered, and I know people who swear the Presonus stuff.
