    Anybody ever try that particular mic for such a thing?

    It's a Peavey version of a Shure SM58.

    You should be able to get reasonable sound with it if you know what you are doing. If it sounds like crap it's more likely what you are doing (or not) than the mic.

      I've been trying it through one of those little ART Tube MP pre-amps into an Alesis NanoCompressor for recording vocals on my computer. I think it sounds alright but I'm never a good judge of things I record on my own.

      I was just curious if anyone else had used a mic like a PVM38 (or even an SM58) for recording vocals.
