  • what's on your gear wish list?

If you could only buy 5 more pieces of (recording) gear, what would they be? List in the order of importance.

    Mine...

    1. Sequis Motherload
    2. PMC AML1 monitors
    3. Royer 122
    4. Josephson C42
    5. Fatso Jr.

Well, after tonight I'm putting the ADK TT way up the list. Just had a great vocal tracking session with it and everyone including the singer's jaw dropped. Smooth, amazing mic and just kills vocals.

Wish list...hmmm.....within reason....I'm pretty satisfied at the moment...

    1. ADK TT
    2. A Designs MP2
    3. Beyer M160 pair
    4. Tascam DV-RA1000 DSD recorder
    5. Second pair of ref monitors (small, maybe KRK V4)

Mostly stuff I've been able to demo in here so I feel kind of lucky...just cannot afford it all! The Tascam recorder looks interesting, in that it features some well respected Burr Brown AD and DA conversion on board...and the recorder section is like a freebie bonus. Haven't heard it yet cause it doesn't come out for a month or so, but I'm intrigued. Converters that could last you all the way up to DSD...? Nice.

The list seems to change as I go - but for now.

      Royer SF1
      Soundelux U195
Sytek (unless I can justify the price of a BuzzAudio)
      Shure SM-7
      A new beer refrigerator.

These are in no particular order - especially if beer starts getting warm.

The real list, as in actually aquire this year...besides re-building the studio.

        Great River MP-2NV
API Lunchbox w/ at least a single 512 to start
        Dynaudio BM15A's
2 new mics TBA (too many choices)

Of course all of the above subject to change without notice...

            1. PreSonus Central Station
            2. Apogee Big Ben
            3. Acoustic guitar (Martin, Taylor, or Collings)
            4. 7.1 upgrade for Logic Pro
            5. Roland V-Synth OS2.0

Had to really think to get even five. There's not much I want/need.

I have better **************** than they made some of the biggest records in history on (and so do most of you), except the rooms and I can't buy those. I think I'll work on getting good results from the **************** I already have.

                1. Mic Pres --- Either Sytec 4 channel or SCA kit to build
                2. Josephson C42 matched Pair
                3. Maybe another nice Mic for vocals. Currently using AKG 414BULS
                4. M-Audio Delta 1010 (have a 66 anc could use more channels)
                5. RNC
                6. Room treatment -- Plan on building bass traps etc.

Those are the main things I need to be fully set to do what I want, but that alone is $2,000-$3000 that I cant afford right now. One piece at a time.

Other than that, I would like to get a nice keyboard. Ideally a Yamaha Motif ES8 or a Kurzweil... Probably, I'll just eventually get a good MIDI controller.

                              Recording gear only
...realistically speaking. I hope to start tackling this list later this year.
