  • I need a compact DAW setup for making scratch demos

    I currently record happily in my small home studio, using relatively old software and equipment, but get results I really like. However I am moving away for a few months and want to still be able to demo some ideas whilst away from my main setup.



    I have a laptop PC, mics, mic pre etc. However I have been out the game too long to be aware of all the latest developments in home recording tools and could do with some advice.



    I see there are monitors with USB soundcard like connections or soundcards that come bundled with software. I don't know what is best.



    I need a recording programme (currently use Cubase), a soundcard interface and a simple, relatively small monitoring solution. Being very small isnt key, but being simple to set up is as I want to be able to just jump straight into working without lots of fuss.

    This looks handy as it comes with guitar modelling, bass modelling and I could leave my mic pre at home.
