  • zoom h4n for drums

so im wanting to record my bands drums using the 4 channel option

    a. i can do the obvious internals as overheads in 120 degree pattern with the other 2 channels as a kick and snare

    or

    b. use the internals as FOK stereo and get the bottoms more or less and then have the other 2 channels as further out overheads facing in so i can get a more stereo picture than a completely centered recording.

i am still kinda new to recording and just trying to piece together my bands stuff.

thanks for any help and input! thanks!

Use the built in mics for overheads, and use the other two channels for kick and snare. Keep the overheads at either 3 or 6" from the snare from above or you'll have phase problems with the other mics.

do you mean 3 or 6 inches left of the snare (audience view)?

or did you mean either 3 feet or 6 feet?
