Hi all,

Puzzled by this.... Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Verse: Dminor F G

Chorus: Bflat Dminor F

What is going on with the G major in the verse? The song looks like the key of F so I'd expect Gminor... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey thanks a lot for your reply! I'm still a little confused though...

I thought in order to act as secondary dominant a chord needs to be a 7th? Also what do you mean "allowed as a V to VI?

You can have dominant triads. The seventh just adds the tritone tension; something many "modern" styles seek to avoid. You can even have minor V triads. It's just a matter of context.

V to Vi meaning the V chord resolving to the VI chord instead of the I chord. For instance in C major: C G Ami instead of C G C.
