Members Steven Mal
I've been trying to develop my legato technique for about six months using various lessons from the internet. I feel like I'm not improving. Surely I need to practice more and have more patience, but in your experience what exercises and lessons worked for you when learning and developing your legato technique? Members 1001gear
You mean slurs, slides, pulls and whatnot? Legato picking is a challenge for me. Not like piano or violin and such.

Members 1001gear
Depends what and how you practice. I took up electric in the early 90s mostly to learn leads and stuff figuring I'd get the hang of it in a few years. I'm still not good enough to bust a solo! The best advice I can offer is go slowly. I mean remedial slowly where every move and the sound you're making exposes itself to you. Your drills will be simple moves or licks that you extract from the difficulties you encounter. Gotta learn to crawl IOW.
Members Steven Mal
Yes, I've heard that before. I think I'm going to focus on practicing more slowly and nitpick the heck out of my playing.
