I'm learning jazz guitar from mel bay jazz christmas book

i acquired a solo jazz guitar book full of Christmas songs on amazon. i don't have a jazz guitar yet. but it's fun to learn. once i find things predictable with the jazz chordal structure, i should be able to figure out songs on jazz guitar myself. :)

And, you will if it keeps your interest piqued. Jazz is a genre I tend to break teeth on so it's decidedly not for me. But, good motivation is universal and so is Mel Bay. Dude taught me all I needed to know about Mr Travis' fingers in my way back years. Good luck with the jazz. I agree that a classical is a better learning tool for that.

Try the Mickey Baker book. All the practical comping you need. The cool part is all the shapes are strumable. No hunting for strings or avoiding open ones.

 

I have a Mickey Backer Book.

 

It's not bad
