Members riffmeister lives
I want to do something to make my Collings dread PA ready, besides using a microphone. Ideas?
Members Freeman Keller
K&K Pure Mini. Simple install, no modifications other than reaming the end pin for a jack. No electronics or batteries on board. I've put a couple in high end Martins and currently installing one in the faux ES-175.
Members riffmeister lives
Thank you Freeman. Are any of the sound hole magnetic pickups any good?
Members Etienne Rambert
Freeman is right. I have one in my Guild D60. It sounds very good. I have the volume control inside my sound hole. You don't have to ream your end-pin hole. You can use the 1/8" adapter. Most players enlarge it so it will take a normal guitar cable jack. Members DeepEnd
. . . Are any of the sound hole magnetic pickups any good? A friend has a Baggs M1 Active in his Norman and it's supposed to be a very good pickup but personally I'm not impressed. You can listen to a number of pickups of all types here: http://www.dougyoungguitar.com/pickuptests/.
Members Idunno
Just remembered there's this company with the same dealy-o for about half the price as K&K. BTW, Piezo is Piezo is Piezo. You can't make it better than it already is. It's the preamp that counts. http://www.jjb-electronics.com/our_products.html
