Question about Action and dropped tuning

There is a sort of balance between the tension of the strings and the truss rod, that keeps the neck in the correct relief, or bend. Lowering string pitch reduces string tension upsetting that balance, The neck takes on less relief, and the strings sit lower at the higher frets, thus the buzz.

A couple of steps of pitch difference on one string usually doesn't make much difference, but it could if the guitar was already set up low, like on the ragged edge of buzzing. The strings are probably as close to the frets as you can get them without buzzing. I would bet that even when tuned to standard EADGBE, it will buzz a bit if you hit the strings hard.

Raising the string height slightly will probably fix it. Yes, that will make the action a bit harder, but it's a tradeoff between that and string buzz. You could shim the saddle a bit, raising the upper frets string height slightly, or you could back the truss rod tension off slightly, increasing the neck relief. It probably won't take much.

FF is very probably right. Slackening the truss rod a little should do the trick.
