The Duo-Tones

Just heard this acoustic duo today and had to rave a little.

The Duo-Tones are: Paul Johnson (guitarist for the Belairs and for the Sufaris) and Gil Orr (guitarist for the Chantays). Two surf monsters from the 60's.

As the Duo-Tones, they play strictly acoustic - no bass, no drums, no Fender Rhodes - just two guitars. And they BURN!

Their CD is called "Surf Music- Unplugged" and contains things like "Pipeline," "Walk, Don't Run," "Apache," "Mr. Moto" - you get the idea. Hearing these guys rip through "Pipeline" is a revelation. If it is anything like the live performance I heard tonight on Prarie Home Companion, then it will be a treat indeed.

I ordered it from Amazon tonight should have gotten the fast shipping!

My favorite surf guitarist has always been Dick Dale.He has an odd style of playing his guitars and uses, I think, a Martin 00015CE or EC (electric cutaway 15 series all mahogany, you get the point) and I know he mainly uses his Fender custom shop strat, the fat 50's pups and the reverse headstock.
