It's almost impossible for a guitar that age to NOT need a neck reset. Maybe its playable but hard to tell. Either way its hard to tell remotely. Looks like a cool axe. I see hints of a top splitting down the middle but even those things are repairable. Tough judgement call. A guitar like that with some work done on it can be a real sweety though. Members guitarcapo Posted November 21, 2003 Members Share Posted November 21, 2003 I've played a few of the modern Gibson reissues of that style guitar and wasn't impressed. The tops were way overbraced and dead sounding. I was told by one store owner that Gibson realized this but was trying to keep the reissues authentic to the original bracing.
