I've always loved the Hawaiian Wedding Song but I haven't heard it in years. Of the songs that I have discovered recently, there's a really beautiful song entitled "And I Love You So" by Don McLean. It was transcribed in the last issue of Fingerstyle Guitar magazine.

there are a few...and these are in my own humble opinion...

Is There Anybody Out There? - Pink Floyd

Landslide (live) - Fleetwood Mac

Dust in the Wind - Kansas

Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

those 4 should keep you busy for quite a while...

If the world should stop revolving

Spinning slowly down to die.

I'd spend the end with you

And when the world was through...

Then one by one, the stars would all go out.

Then you and I, would simply fly away.

My list is long, here are some.

Autumn Leaves

Scarborough Fair

Morning Has Risen

These are tunes that are best when sung and played. The words to these three tunes are emotional, especially Autumn Leaves.

Morning Has Broken - Cat Stevens

I love Cat Stevens music. It was a great loss when he converted to a form of Islam that forbids instrumental music. I remember learning "Long Boats" thirty years ago simply to impress a young lady who said it was her favorite song. Didn't work. That said, and I don't want to offed you Trei, but I have a pet peeve about "Morning Has Broken" being attributed to the Cat simply because he recorded a popular version. "Morning" has been a prized Christian hymn for at least 50 years. The tune sung by Stevens is "Bunessan", a traditional Gaelic melody. The words were penned by Eleanor Farjeon in 1931. And you're right, it is gorgeous.

and other Cat Stevens songs

Chris Campbell - So Far Away

im drawing a blank now

+1 on Cat Stevens - "Wild World" is one of my favorite songs to play and sing (locked alone in my of course! ;)) BTW - where's the best tab arrangement (with lyrics) for "Morning Has Broken" or "Moonshadow"??

I'm also a big fan of Mark Knopfler but have lost track of what he's been up to. Of his work with Dire Straits I love but could never hope to play:

"Romeo and Juliet"

"Telepgraph Road"

"Private Investigations"

"Why Worry"

"The Man's Too Strong"

Since I'm kind of breaking away from straight acoustic music I would also venture to praise "People Get Ready" by Jeff Beck/Rod Stewart. That song is what really inspired me to play when it first came out! It still gives me goosbumps!

How's about...

1. Wedding Song - Noel (Paul) Stookey

2. Your Song - Elton John

3. Time In A Bottle - Jim Croce

4. Helplessly Hoping - Crosby, Stills and Nash

5. Leader of the Band - Dan Vogelbird

In other words, none of today's music. Yea, I'm old too.
