Members Stackabones
Tell me about that mic! What do you know about that guitar? Most of the time I see him on a Gibby with a florentine cutaway. All other unsolicited information would be appreciated.

Members Stackabones
That 0-15 resembles some of the parlor-sized gits I've seen ... it doesn't really look much bigger than the Fender SP1.

Members Stackabones
The mic looks very much like an RCA 77 ribbon. Hmmm ... I think you're on to something there. I'm going to take a guess and say that something like that is rather hard to come by and probably quite spendy if you do come by one. What are some options for mics that have that look and sound, but are made more recently and (if possible) won't require a bail out for my personal finances? Members totamus
I have been lloking for that same mic for years. I have a collection of vintage mics, and that one is, to me at least, the holy grail. I do have a Shure ribbon mic, and it is very, very impressive. They are quite delicat though, you would need to be very careful if you gigged with one. I Found mine at an old electronics store. They had it in stock for over 30 years. I bought it brand new for the price that was marked on it the day they put it on display. Like you, I am quite a fan of Leon. He is the coolest guy I can think of. Members daklander
Leon's best song, IMHO. Seduced - Leon Redbone (Gary Tigerman, © 1978 Precedent Music) I want to be seducedWant a woman to take me out to dinner for twoLike to see her eyes get moodyFlirtin' with the thought of what flirtin' ought to do. Like to be real coolLet her think about gettin' little me in bedHave a chat about Magna Carta, Puerto VallartaSomethin' Gandhi said.I might demur politely, falter slightlyIf she tried to fondle my kneeBut I'm relatively certain I'd compromise if I know me. I want to be seducedWant a woman to talk to me suggestivelyWant to hear her say she'll be with me tomorrow morningDrinkin' hot jasmine tea.Want her to make me laugh, make a point of touching me when she talksLeavin' all the jealous men in the jointTo mumblin' in their beer and gawk. I know it only happens when I'm nappin'Noddin' in a reverieThat I find myself a woman who wouldn't mind seducing me. I know it only happens when I'm nappin'Noddin' in a reverieThat I find myself a woman who wouldn't mind seducingStartin' from the moment that we've been introduced.I'd like to find a woman who wouldn't mind seducing me. Members guitarcapo
Leon is a fingerpicker and I think smaller guitars are great for that. They also contribute to his vintage sound and persona. BTW I read somewhere that his whole image is a fabrication...that he's some Canadian and not a southern gentleman he tries to portray: from wiki: Redbone's origins are shrouded in mystery. His birth name is believed to be Dickran Gobalian[1]. He has cited his date of birth as October 29, 1929; this wildly inaccurate date was the day of the U.S. stock market crash that sparked the Great Depression. He also claimed to have been born in Bombay during a monsoon to parents Niccol
