Will a camel bone saddle be all that better than cow bone?

Used to have one, but I didn't like how it raised the action on the D and G strings...

lol...took me a few seconds to get the joke, but that was clever :thu:!

 

Now...what if the bone came from a Bactrian camel :poke:?

 

All joking aside, I don't think it would make a huge difference. Some people have trouble noticing the difference between a cheap plastic saddle and a high quality bone saddle, so switching around the kind of bone used is kind of like splitting hairs, IMO.

The logic is since its denser it will transfer more vibration to the top, therefore getting more volume, sustain, and hopefully better tone. . . .

 

Density isn't the only factor. Lead is dense but because it's relatively soft it absorbs vibrations rather than transmitting them. The ideal would probably be hard and dense. A diamond saddle might be a possibility, although expensive.
