Members johnkline
http://www.plek.com/ It's a machine that does a setup. I'm like you guys, I had no idea what it did until two days ago. I picked up an acoustic over at tgp that had it done, so I'll see for myself when it shows up on my doorstep. It's an epiphone masterbilt aj-500r.. Members Pine Apple Slim
I have heard of the Pleck. I would like to try one.But I have not as yet.Seems a good idea to me, but I still think you would need an experienced human involved in the plecking for optimal benefit. Members katopp
Most - if not all - of the bigger and better guitar makers do use Plek machines. Framus/Warwick run all their stock through Pleks. So do IMHO Martin, Taylor and others. The Pro is, that the PLEK setup and fret deressing is done under full string tension, so it's as accurate as it could be, but the Con is, that all gits are once again treated equally. As with the build, an experienced luthier will touch-tap and try to tone the wood to the best of it's (or his) ability. The CNC router will cut it down to the same 1/100 of an inch tolerance. So, if you want a good setup, a PLEK is hard to beat.If you want a specialized setup, like for Bluegrass and just for Bluegrass, the luthier can do better.
