Members greggap11
Hi All, I am in the market for a new acoustic guitar. I've been to guitar center and a few other stores and could use some advice. I like more of a booming well balanced sound. I'm typically a fan of Guild's and Takamine's. I'm looking to get something different than a takamine this time. The guild d50 would be my perfect guitar but is out of my price range, I wasn't too impressed with the GAD50. My price range is $750-$1200. Any recommendations on what I should try? I am not a fan of Taylor's and Martin's, I rather fingerpick and I am mostly a strummer. Thanks, Greg
Members SkippyX
I've heard plenty of good things about Westerly-build Guild D-25s (links to ebay search). I did pretty good w/ a online MusicGoRound purchase (GAD-50). You might want to try them (links to a MusicGoRound search).
Members katopp
Yamaha's L-range of guitars comes to mind...Good and nicely balanced, useable for picking and strumming.Perfect for you.
Members frailer5
Only because it is on my mind after a recent GAS attack, (it's OK, I've recovered and am convalescing well), the Yamaha LJ6. Not available here in Australia, if they ever were. My 2c worth, is all. But it may be too 'inexpensive' for your price range. http://www.productwiki.com/yamaha-lj6/
Members DeepEnd
See if you can find a Guild DV-6: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Guild-DV6-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=581096&src=3WFRWXX&ZYXSEM=0&CAWELAID=340921524.

Members Etienne Rambert
Old Guilds are great. But check the saddle height and neck. The older any guitar gets, the more likely it will need work. My 1972 D25 went 31 years without a neck reset. I always liked the F47 models. You might be able to find one of those in your price range.
