And these folks say "shavna", but... but...

C'mon you Celts, let us in on it.

 

 

Actually, the modern pronunciation is "sow - wen".

 

"Shavna" is Old Gaelic whereas "Samhain" is New Gaelic. Interestingly, it is also the name for the month of November.

 

Whatever you do, do not pronounce it "Sam - Ain" or "Sam - Hain." That'll get on someone's Pagan nerves for sure.
