Members SirJackdeFuzz
. . . under $500.00 that is worth looking into ? Pref no electronics. Body size, as big as pos. but not a deal breaker if it is not a Dread. PS : no classics, only steel string models. Thanx to all.
Members Stackabones
I really like the Takamine GS430S. $300. Since you want a dread, check out the Tak GS330S.

Members katopp
Tanglewood TW145-SCSolid cedar top, hog b&s, B-band electronics.Own it as a 12-string and love it. Not as much as my broken Ovation, but since my Ovation is broken (did I mention that?), I use it exclusively when playing live. The B-Band gives great control over the sound, tuning is rock stable. Comfy feel ... what else do I have to say?
Members fastblueheeler
Epiphone Masterbilt AJ500RC if you want a 12 fret. You'll have to buy used though, they're discontinued. If you can find a Lag T300D, they're very nice sounding guitars IMO. Narrow neck might not be to your liking though. I own both of these and I'm very happy with them. andThere's always the Seagull S6. I can't find anything not to like about it.
Members Greymuzzle
There is a guy on e-bay in America doing some Avalon Silver series Grand Auditorium size with cedar tops for $300+. I have one of these that I picked up from the Avalon workshops here. Lovely cedar sound, but doesn't allow itself to be bullied by dreads. Great buy I reckon. Members jbviper4
+1 on the Seagull. I have a 12er but have played a lot of their 6 string models...only thing is it scratches up really easily if you play aggressively (as I tend to). Members Samilyn
Seagull S6 is the first one that comes to my mind. I've played a few and really liked them. Very good build quality and lovely woody tone.

Members TESmith
Crafter D7 http://www.crafterguitars.com/gallery_acoustic/d_7n.php Crafter GA7 http://www.crafterguitars.com/gallery_acoustic/ga_7_n.php Crafter J15 http://www.crafterguitars.com/gallery_acoustic/j_15_n.php Gotta agree with these, I had a GA7 which was stolen, but I loved the sound of that guitar, got many comments from guitarists and non guitarists, so rich and warm and full, I was so mad when it was taken! Allthough it was not an expensive guitar, It was a keeper, I may well buy another and some point. Another Cedar Guitar I like is a Hagstrom G250 Hagstrom is a brand you do not hear much of for acoustics. (They are another PacRim Guitar, but very well put together, at least the 2 Hagstrom acoustics I have seem to be) Thing is if you look around, you can find some great deals on the line though. The Hagstroms are a wider neck 13/4 nut,but it is a thin neck, the Crafter is 1 11/16 so they have different feels but they both have wonderful woody cedar tones! Members MePeel
Walden G730. Solid cedar top, solid rosewood back. I just picked up one with factory case and free shipping for under $500.

Members seagullplayer77
Seagull came to mind as soon as I read the thread title. I'd say the Seagull S6 is the "standard" cedar-topped dreadnought, at least in my book. I have one and I like it a lot.

Members dknelson
I've owned my Seagull S6 cutaway with QII electronics for maybe 5 or 6 years now and really do like it. Last week I added another Seagull when I ran across a fantastic deal on a Artist Cameo. It is a beautiful guitar and plays fantastic. I wish it had been a rosewood guitar instead of the flamed maple but it was a deal that I couldn't refuse. Maybe somebody I'll run across somebody with a rosewood artist series that is looking to trade. At any rate, I too would recommend the S6 in your price range. They are hard to beat.
