  • What did you think of McCartnery at Olympics last night?

Kind of a rough vocal start but I thought overall was a good song for this type event.

I thought he was pretty good. My sons were face-palming him for his vocals, and I didn't catch the beginning of Hey Jude, but liked what I heard (even though I never liked that song much).

I missed it. After I watched Queen Elizabeth jump out of a helicopter and parasail into the place, I knew they couldn't come up with anything to top that, so I switched to a different channel.
Three Dreads......2 Martins and 1 YamahaA fiddle, a mando, a uke, eight harmonicas, a Zoom H2, a Panasonic recorder, coupla penny whistles, an Italian made Titano accordion, three handguns, at least a dozen chess sets, more power tools than Bob Vila, and one old Westclox "Big Ben" wind-up alarm clock that still works! Oh, BTW, I forgot to mention my ocarina and maracas.

Sounded like he was joking it up too much at the beginning of HJ.

Embarrassingly way way past it. He and tha Artic Monkeys were marked low points for me

I thought it was just .... OK. It would have been a lot better if they had gotten him together with Ringo.

Yeah--if that's the video everyone is referring to (I have no TV here in Roma), I thought he did quite well. And I realize it's TV, but he looks pretty good for a guy who's pushing 70!

Yeah funny how they cut out Ringo as the drummer. And during the early part of the ceremony when they were showing famous British faces (Shakespeare, Churchill, etc) the showed only John and Paul. No love for George and Ringo I guess.

Didn't see it, but is that video from last night?

If so, it sounds like he was really rushing it. His singing is OK, but I think he could have probably come up with a better song choice, to be honest.

The whole ceremony was an embarassing, overblown mess with little to no relevance to anything.
