Phil O'Keefe
I need to practice. See you in 40 years or so. I'm sure you're probably a much better guitarist than I am, and it only took me about two weeks of regular practice to get Larry's solo worked out - but it's tough, no doubt about it. I think you can get it worked out a lot faster than 40 years...
Members Grant Harding
I think I started learning it on cassette when I was about 18. I'm still discovering new things about it and inspired by it. What I'd really like is a rhythm guitarist who can cover the cool chord sequence behind the solo for me. Members Axisplayer
Yes, it really does. Actually, it isn't being able to play the parts that amazes it me so much. It is being able to write it. I don't think like that when I create. I would never create those scales and licks.
Members Axisplayer
You are kind. As I said above though, I could learn the parts in a couple weeks, no doubt. I need forty years to learn to think like that, to have it just flow out of my creativity. It is one thing to copy, quite another to create from nothing. He just kills it. Members Grant Harding
That's a great video! Cool to see it played, since I learned it by ear.
Members Etienne Rambert
That's always more important to my ears than lead guitar solos. What happens in the background is what I am listening to. A great rhythm player is rare. Lead guitarists are not rare.
Phil O'Keefe
I couldn't agree more - while it's one thing to be able to learn to play that solo, it's quite another to throw something like that down in just a couple of passes in the studio. It's an stunning artistic achievement.
