Members thatsbunk
I have a Danelectro 12 string that I've been playing a lot lately. I really love the "jangle" I can get out of it & while it's got some issues, I can deal with most of them considering the cost- Notably a noisy pickup selector switch, a cardboard like pick guard that seems to be peeling, and it's a serious neck diver too. One issue I really want to address on it though is that it has crazy 60 cycle hum... It's not too bad at home, but it's really noisy where our band practices. When I kick in my compressor, it becomes unusable. I was thinking a way to tame this guitar would be to replace one of the lipstick pickups with one that's reverse wound to "buck the hum". Does anyone know how can I tell what direction the original pickup is wound?

Members Mr.Grumpy
GuitarFetish sells a replacement lipstick pickups, and one model is reverse polarity/reverse wound for hum-cancelling operation when both pickups are activated. Members thatsbunk
Yeah that's what I was looking at. But just curious if there's a way to tell what direction the originals are wound...
